Farewell to Our Very Own "Lady"
Yesterday, Sunday the 10th of July, 2005, our family suffered yet another loss from our treasured circle of loved ones.
Sweet little "Lady", our Cocker and Springer Spaniel mix, died peacefully in her sleep, at the golden age of nearly 15 years. Lady was loved by our entire family and will be mourned for many days.
Lady was a very special dog, for many special reasons. She was our first "real" pet that we had, and will always be first in our hearts. She was the dog that helped Tara get over her fear of dogs, being the very first dog that Tara would actually love and trust.
Lastly and most importantly of all, she was my father's best friend. She was the first dog that was completely "his little girl", and the first one that got "luvins" after Mom when he got home! She was his shadow for the rest of his life, and when he passed away she was heart-stricken. Daddy always considered Lady to be his "prized hunter" on his "vast estate", and took great pride at pretending he was a great Lord with his highly prized dog. He loved her very much, and she loved him above us all.
Lady was my last living link with my father, and this loss is very hard to take, even though I am thankful to God that she is no longer suffering from pain or old age.
Lady was a sweet, loving dog whose personality could be summed up in one word as loyal. She did have a mind of her own, which could be hard to deal with sometimes, but her love and her company got us through many hard times.
Yes, she was just a dog, but God loves all His creations, and I think Lady would have made Him smile. I thank God for giving her to us for this short time on this hard earth, for she made life a little less hard to bear. She will always be our very own "Lady", not only the First Lady of all our pets of our life, but the First Pet of our lives.
Thank you Lord, for our sweet little companion. Thank you for giving us pets, but especially, thank you for Lady!
Rest in peace, sweet Lady.
