Masterpiece in Minnesota

Although many people wrote the Minnesota Twins off at the beginning of this year, the Twins had other ideas. They occupy the sole lead atop first place in the American League Central Division, with a 12 and a half game lead. They continue to play scorching baseball, and it's a joy to keep up with their progress!

Last night, Johan Santana pitched a masterpiece for the Twins, harvesting a career high 14 strikeouts, and pitching 8 shutout innings. That makes 38 scoreless innings pitched consecutively by Santana, and Minnesota is looking at more excitement in the future!

Really. I thought that the twins....hmm yes...The Twins.....this cannot be good. But I do have to say that is good that they are doing so well. I hope that they continue and don't fizzle out which doesn't look like it is going to happen. And also GO BRAVES!!!!!!!.....ummmm and for u man. GO ASTROS!!!!

Woohoo! :D Extremely exciting! Very good! ;) (Dad was screaming mad that Gardenhire took Santana out before he could make 15 strikeouts, though.) Way to go, Twins! Keep it up! :)

P.S. I am enjoying the alliteration in your section titles, M's and D's and T's and A's and R's. :) It is neat when people write that way.

I would have been screaming mad if it had been Clemens, like your dad was, but I guess the manager wanted to make sure Santana has something left for the postseason, as it looks almost certain they are going to the playoffs! ;) Sounds more and more like your Dad "knows where it's at".

Ah Nathan, thank you for the encouragement for the Astros! They have started to falter. They need to suck in their breath, cinch their belts in another notch, and stick it to the Giants these next three days. If they don't.....

Yeah. Dad just likes to holler at Gardenhire and remind him of the old days when one guy could pitch an entire game nearly every day a week, etc. ;) In honesty, I don't understand all of baseball; but considering how well-off we are, the manager must know his job.
